Raising poultry provides food security or income which, in turn, lead to self-sufficiency.
A complete community-sized chicken coop can be installed for about $1700.
This amount covers the cost of the coop itself, feeding and watering apparatus, vaccinations, 2 cocks and 25 laying hens as well as a very important course of instruction on the healthcare and management of the poultry to ensure success.
The animals are selected by an animal health officer who also gives the course.
